Offset Printing

Offset printing is by nearly all of the large commercial printing companies as their printer of choice for high volume printing. The term offset is used, because metal plates and rubber mats are used to transfer ink to the paper rather than directly putting the ink on the paper. This allows for faster printing than other printing methods. The two types of printers are web printing presses and sheet fed presses. Web printing uses big rolls of continuous paper that is cut after has been printed on and sheet fed are sheets of paper that are already cut to a specific size.

Offset printing often uses the common colors of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black just like what regular color printers would use. The process uses both water and ink, but they do not get mixed. Offset printing continuously produces the same level of quality printing at incredible speeds and high volume.
